I managed a tech fund for 13 years at JP Morgan, most of which time you were running CNET. I've recently co-founded an online database firm which has a heavy media and content syndication component. If you get involved with seed funding, send me an e-mail address and I'll send some details. Best regards. It just feels like they shipped it way too early.. and it's not the feature regression but the devs' lack of acknowledgement that's got the users in an uproar. Long-time users felt slighted and disenfranchised.

Meanwhile Whiskey Media replies to blog comments within the hour! We've also talked about music, sailing, bar-b-que, outdoor adventure, and fitness as well. For us, building the sites is the easy part. The criteria for us is that they category has smart, web savvy fans where there is either a lack of good social communities or ones where the current leaders are too big and generic.

Drinking our own Kool-Aid here, but we think the kind of publishing we do is pretty unique so all categories are wide open. We are in the process of finishing off a few more features that enhance our platform, then we are going to start cranking out sites again. Will start in areas where we have a lot of personal interest, as we find that the most fun to work on.

Re: @LlamaNL We love Sci-Fi and wo…

What type of genres and subjects are you looking to possibly expand into? I prefer Niche over mass communication of that 15 second video from an upcoming movie.

Sci-fi can be broken down into three categories publications (books, comics and the written word), movie (based on distribution model) and alternative media (games).

What would be really cool is having a sci-fi "Time Bubble" which would be a directory of science fiction content based on the timeline of the story while allowing for niche groups within the site for creating user created content.

Re: @LlamaNL We love Sci-Fi and wo…

OK i didn't expect to hit the front page so quickly... Have a look at IO9 and their pro-feminine message or any other site and their Star Wars over everything. Anyways, time for some festivities, perhaps i'll have more to say when I'm sober again.
